You can forgive us for feeling slightly miffed about last week’s haul of two wins from five selections.
In the trio that let us down, two saw plenty of goals – they just all happened to be for one team! Bournemouth and Gillingham trounced Fulham and Bradford 3-0 and 4-0 respectively, while in the third leg Charlton had a goal disallowed that would have made it 1-1 at Rochdale.
That, unfortunately, is the business of BTTS betting.

Bournemouth vs Manchester United – Yes (8/13)
Are Bournemouth a surprise package? Perhaps, but they currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and look good value for it.
Eddie Howe’s men haven’t conceded a goal for more than 270 minutes of league football, but this week’s opponents – Manchester United – will pose a sterner test than their last three of Watford, Southampton and Fulham.
On the other hand, the Cherries have scored two or more goals in four of their last six, so both facets of their game are working well.
Believe it or not, Jose Mourinho appears to have cut loose and gone to a more attacking style with United. Their recent Expected Goals data is excellent, and that is reflected in the fact that they’ve scored in each of their last seven, and bludgeoned seven goals in their last three league outings.
But as we know, defending is still a huge problem for them. There’s no recognised right back, while the central defensive combination of Smalling and Lindelof does not inspire confidence.
Arsenal vs Liverpool – Yes (1/2)
Arsenal fans probably expected a changing of the guard when Arsene Wenger stepped aside for Unai Emery in the dugout, but actually it’s a case of same old Arsenal.
Their attacking play is vibrant, exciting and, most importantly, effective: they’ve notched two or more goals in each of their last nine Premier League engagements.
But the Gunners haven’t defended properly since the days of Adams, Bould, Dixon and Winterburn, and that is confirmed by the notion that they have shipped in 8/10 this term.
Liverpool’s attacking play needs no introduction, and defensively they have improved too with the introduction of Alisson and Virgil van Dijk and the emergence of Joe Gomez.
But they have conceded in three of five away league dates, and in exciting news for TV viewers BTTS has landed in eight of the last ten editions of this fixture.
Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United – Yes (4/6)
It’s a much-improved Nottingham Forest in 2018/19, although defensive frailties still persist.
The Tricky Trees have shipped in 10/15 Championship outings thus far, and conceded two or more goals in home matches against Birmingham, Norwich and Millwall.
Aitor Karanka’s men have, however, struck twice or more in five of their last eight, found the net in 14/15 and delighted home fans by scoring in each of their last seven at the City Ground.
Only West Brom have scored more Championship goals than Sheffield United, with the Blades troubling the scoresheet in each of their last seven and in 5/6 on the road.
Funnily enough, only West Brom and QPR have conceded more goals than Sheffield United as far as the league’s top ten teams are concerned, so Chris Wilder’s outfit aren’t having things all their own way.
Wycombe Wanderers vs Peterborough United – Yes (1/2)
These are entertaining times for Wycombe Wanderers fans, with their last eight matches at Adams Park delivering a whopping 21 goals. That’s value for money!
The Chairboys have blasted eleven goals in their last half-dozen matches anywhere, and their last three results show 3-2 and 3-0 wins over Scunthorpe and Rochdale respectively, as well as a 2-3 reverse at Walsall.
Peterborough have blitzed 23 goals in eight away games this term; a fantastic return that highlights their threat as a counter-attacking entity.
They remain unbeaten on the road, so the trip to Wycombe won’t faze them, and that incredible goal return on their travels includes the staggering stat that they have notched three or more goals in 50% of their outings.
Sport Recife vs Ceara – Yes (19/20)
The Brazilian Serie A is getting into its nitty gritty, with just seven rounds of matches to go.
So matters at the top and bottom of the league take on added significance, and it’s in the relegation battle where our interest lies with this selection.
Both of these teams are in the brown stuff – Sport Recife, in the relegation zone, more so than Ceara who are three points outside of it – and both have started to show signs of fight.
Sport Recife have won three of their last four (2-1, 2-1 and 4-3), but in and around that have been 2-5 and 0-4 defeats too.
Ceara are also on a handy run (W3 D1 L1), and that has been accomplished by a greater emphasis on attacking play; all told, ten scored in their last six outings.
Serie A is a low scoring division, hence the lofty prices, but at this time of the campaign those sorts of stats tend to go out of the window.
